Jo-Mari van Zyl

BCom (Hons), CFA®
Jo-Mari graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2015, achieving distinction in her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in BCom Investment Management.

She joined Metier in January 2016 as an intern to gain experience across the private equity spectrum from deal sourcing to portfolio management and exits. In this role, she assists with investment research and analysis providing support on valuations and management of portfolio companies. In December 2016 she joined the Analyst Programme and was promoted to Associate in December 2018.


Robert Nel

M.Eng (Mechanical), LLB (Stellenbosch)
Robert graduated from Stellenbosch University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2005 and an LLB (top of his class) in 2008. After completing his studies, he spent four years at Webber Wentzel attorneys, predominantly in the project finance practice group. During this time, he worked almost entirely in the renewable energy sector, and was part of the team that developed the REIPPP programme. His focus areas included drafting the PPAs for seven different generation technologies, interfacing with the technical and financial advisory teams and participating in bid evaluations. Rob also worked on gas, hydro and other energy and infrastructure project.

In 2012, Rob joined Bain & Company where he consulted to financial services, telecommunications and mining companies. At the end of 2015, he moved to Afriwise where he initially advised companies on African business and legal risks. Rob joined Metier in June 2018, his initial focus area was the management of the Sindila project.

Ryan Maleta

BCom, BCom (Hons)
Ryan joined Metier as an Analyst in September 2018, he graduated from the University of Johannesburg in 2015 with a BCom degree in Finance and subsequently a BCom Honours degree in Investment Management.

His interest in private equity arises from his passion in entrepreneurship and his desire to make an impactful difference in the economy.

Prior to joining Metier, Ryan was an investment banking professional at ABSA CIB where he actively participated in sourcing and structuring M&A transactions, before this he was part of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s corporate finance graduate programme.

Richard Rutherford

BSocSci, MSc (Finance)
Richard graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor’s in social science in 2016. Wanting to further his studies with the aim of migrating into the finance field, he registered for a Master’s in finance specialising in private equity and hedge fund management at the International University of Monaco, graduating in 2019.

As part of the requirements for his Masters, Richard was expected to partake in an internship for a period of longer than four months. He fulfilled his internship requirements at Metier. Following his internship, he joined Metier as an analyst in January 2019.

Mpho Mutloane

B Bus Sci (Finance & Accounting), PGDA, CA(SA)
Mpho graduated from UCT with a B Bus Sci (Finance and Accounting) degree in 2012, completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting in 2013 and is a Chartered Accountant.

Mpho joined Metier in October 2019. Prior to joining Metier, he completed his articles at FirstRand Bank Limited where he obtained experience throughout the group, including rotations in Rand Merchant Bank.

In 2017, Mpho Joined Fieldstone where he was an associate on renewable energy and clean technology M&A and corporate finance deals in Africa.

From 2014 to 2017, Mpho was an African business analyst on Power Hour on Power FM 98.7 in Johannesburg where he would analyse the top African business news every week with the host. He is also a sports enthusiast and commentates on live games in an online radio platform.


Inga Raziya

BCom (Hons)
Inga graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2015 with a BCom Honours degree in Financial Management. Thereafter, she interned in Amman, Jordan and New York City primarily in venture capital. This allowed Inga to gain exposure to the investment management spectrum and a range of different industries in those regions.

Prior to joining Metier, Inga started her career as a banking professional at Absa CIB as part of their graduate programme in 2016. During her time there, her roles covered the consumer goods sector and multinational where she developed her skills on transaction research and analysis. She joined Metier as an analyst in October 2019.

Galie Makhathini

MBA candidate, PGDIP (Development Finance), BSc (Hons)
Galie graduated from Stellenbosch Business School with a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Finance in 2017, a BSc (Hons) Environmental Monitoring and Modelling from the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2017 and a BSc Geological Science from the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2010. Galie is currently an MBA candidate at the Wits Business School.

Galie joined Metier in January 2020 as the ESMS Officer. Prior to joining Metier, Galie was an ESG Specialist for the Africa Food Security Fund and an ESG Advisor at generalist fund manager. At both funds, Galie was responsible for advising the investment team on the material ESG issues during the deal screening and due diligence processes while establishing ESG policies and procedures as well as ESG best practice management frameworks for portfolio companies.

Before this Galie was an ESG Consultant at EBS Advisory, where she managed private equity clients in FMCG, infrastructure development, property and real estate development.

Diana Farrer

B Bus Sci (Finance and Accounting), PGDA, CA(SA)
Diana graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting in 2015 and a Bachelor of Business Science, specialising in Finance with Accounting.

Diana joined Metier’s investment team in February 2020 as an Analyst.

Prior to joining Metier, Diana was an Audit Manager in Deloitte's Financial Services division, where she gained experience in a retail and commercial bank, as well as a JSE listed financial services group.

Diana completed articles at Deloitte Johannesburg and was on a four month secondment at the Deloitte New York office, covering an SEC-registered institutional asset manager, focused on structured credit and private equity investments.

Joseph Klohoun

MSc (Maths), BA (Finance and Management)
Joseph is an investment executive in Metier’s Sustainable Capital practice. Prior to Metier Joseph was a manager with PwC Sub-Saharan Africa in the PPP and project finance team, based in Abidjan, covering francophone Africa. Joseph has over 10 years experience in PPP and infrastructure investments in renewable energy, transport, and wastewater.

Prior to PwC, Joseph was an investment professional at Innergex Renewable Energy, a Canadian IPP and an investment associate for project development at PPP Canada (Canada’s PPP centre of expertise) in Ottawa.

As an investment professional at Innergex Renewable Energy, Joseph worked on various renewable energy projects across multiple jurisdictions, where he executed wind, solar, hydro project development and acquisition transactions. He also worked on various infrastructure debt financing by conducting detailed credit analysis and interacted with banking specialists when structuring transactions.

In the PPP sector, Joseph was involved in successful procurements and the development of business plans, financial models and assistance to several municipalities in the transport and wastewater sector.

Sibongile Ngoatje

BCom Accounting Sciences, BCom (Hons) Accounting Sciences, CA(SA)
Sibongile holds a BCom and BCom Honours degree in Accounting Sciences from the University of Pretoria. After completing her studies, she completed her articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Assurance division and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2016.

Sibongile joins Metier’s investment team in 2021. Prior to Metier, Sibongile was an audit manager from 2017 to 2019, with a focus on the audits of companies in the construction and renewable energy industries. In 2018, she was seconded to Toronto Canada with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In 2019, Sibongile joined the Advisory division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Transaction Services deals team, gaining exposure to transactions in various industries, with a particular focus on renewable energy.
